About Us

We are an all-volunteer board.  Each of us is a Certified Teacher.  Three of us have received Teacher of the Year Awards.  Two of us are National Board Certified and Licensed Professional Counselors.  Between us we have over one hundred years of experience in working with special-needs populations. 

About our Founder

Dr. Murphy taught art before becoming a psychotherapist.  In 2001 she received Teacher of the Year as an elementary school art teacher in the New Jersey public school system. Motivated by her work with troubled teens at an alternative high school, she studied counseling before founding Atelier 7, Inc.  Her doctoral research in expressive therapies investigated creativity enhancement and cognitive development.  Dr. Murphy formulated her trademarked BrainZipper approach for developing effective aptitudes and attitudes.  She conducts continuing education workshops on creative thinking, strategic problem solving, leadership, and self-actualization.  She has been married to William for 40 years. They have three grown children and five grandchildren.
